Apple has accepted the 1.9.7 update to both "The Bible" and "LDS Books" and they should be available for updating soon.

A demonstration video of the new custom footnotes and references feature can be seen in the Demos area.

Version 1.9.7 of U.S. Historical Documents has been approved by Apple and should be available for updating soon.

It's only a bug fix release. No new documents have been added.

Using the pinching gesture to rescale the font size should work a lot better now.
Fixed the floating toolbar issue that occurred while reading in landscape mode.

Version 1.9.7 of U.S. Historical Documents Submitted to Apple

The 1.9.7 update of "U.S. Historical Documents" has been submitted to Apple for approval.

This update is only to fix some bugs which were introduced in the prior update.

Version 1.9.7 of The Bible and LDS Books Submitted to Apple

The free 1.9.7 update to "The Bible" and "LDS Books" has been submitted to Apple for approval.

This update contains a major feature! It has the best reference (cross-reference) and footnote implementation available on the iPhone/iPod Touch. You will even be able to create your own references and footnotes for every word in the entire scriptures.

More information will be posted when the update is approved by Apple - as well as a tutorial video.

The Bible and LDS Books Update

Just a quick update that we're actively working on the next update. The custom cross-referencing solution is a little more complicated than we initially envisioned, but it's coming along well. We want an implementation that is easy to use, quick, and intuitive - which is sometimes hard to do on the iPhone devices. We'd rather take a little more time and implement something correctly than just slap in a feature so we can add a bullet item to our feature list.

Version 1.9.6 of U.S. Historical Documents Approved by Apple

1/23/09 - It appears the update has finally showed up on iTunes.

Version 1.9.6 of the U.S. Historical Documents application has been approved by Apple and should be available for updating soon.

Here are the release notes:

Added President Barack H. Obama's Inauguration Address

Added The Federalist Papers (all 85)
Added The Virginia Resolution
Added The Kentucky Resolution
Added The USA Patriot Act

Updated the Gettysburg Address to use the officially accepted version which Lincoln signed (Bliss Copy)

Fixed some minor misc. formatting errors in some of the documents.

Updated - Version 1.9.2 of The Bible and LDS Books Released

The 1.9.2 update to both The Bible and LDS Books has been released and should be available for updating through either iTunes or the App Store in the next few hours.

Here's a more detailed description of what's changed:

Features Added:

  • Auto-scrolling, both tilt-based and timed, is supported in landscape mode. To maximize the reading area, the scrolling toolbar will automatically hide itself. To have it re-appear, just tap on the screen.

Version 1.9.2 of The Bible and LDS Books Delayed

Apple has rejected our 1.9.2 update because they didn't like us using the triangular play button to start auto-scrolling with (they said it would cause customer confusion because it's generally used to start playing a video). After explaining to them that it's been that way for a long time and that nobody has ever seemed to have a problem with it (the app tip also explains what it's used for), they agreed to accept the update as is. However, due to vacations, we will be unable to re-submit the update until 1/3/2009. We sincerely apologize for the delay.
